Build It Week - US Volunteers
BUILD IT WEEK, LEOGANE – NOVEMBER 2012
Haven’s Build it Week Project returns to Léogâne in Haiti!
In November 2011, 300 volunteers from Haven travelled to Haiti and built 54 permanent houses in the Santo community on the outskirts of Léogâne which lies 28km south west from Port-au-Prince and considered to be the epicenter of the 2010 earthquake.
This year, Haven will return to Leogane, Haiti in partnership with Habitat for Humanity & the Jimmy & Rosalyn Carter Work Project.
Departure dates for volunteers travelling from the US are Saturday November 24th–Saturday December 1st. Volunteers will join forces with Haven volunteers from Ireland and also volunteers from Habitat for Humanity's Carter Project. The group will have a target of building 100 houses during the week period.
The 2010 earthquake in Haiti affected more than two million people. Today, thousands of Haitians continue to live in dire conditions. These families need our help. Your sacrifice of time and comfort, your hard work and your commitment to not only cover your own costs but to raise funds for future work in Haiti are what will truly make this Build it Week with Haven a life-changing experience.
Your participation with Haven will not only ensure the success of the project, but will help continue Haven & Habitat’s work in Léogâne and all across Haiti.
