Haven is an Irish non-governmental organisation, strongly committed to empowering Haitians to build strong and sustainable livelihoods.
We work solely in Haiti to facilitate the provision of adequate water and sanitation, training and education, and shelter solutions for its people. Working in partnership with project participants, other NGOs and the Government of Haiti, we embrace community development and sustainability at the very core of all we do.
Launched in 2008, we quickly moved from a house-building charity to one providing emergency relief in the aftermath of the earthquake which struck just one year later. That catastrophic event has shaped the Haven which exists today: the ongoing turmoil experienced in the country encourages us to regularly review our activities, continually ensuring all efforts ultimately benefit the most vulnerable people in Haiti.
Today, we are looking ahead, focused on building a bright, secure and independent future for the people and communities of Haiti. Our vision is to build thriving, sustainable communities which prosper self-sufficiently, and in which every person has a safe place to call home, as well as the means to provide for their families.
While we are always moving closer to making that the reality, there is further still to go.
