This was such a lovely, relaxing day.
We only did a little bit of real work today at the orphanage, then a little tidying up of leftover materials, so that they can be easily found for maintenance in future. We revisited the ‘new house’ from the other day and found a great site for sale next door: great if you want to slide from the front to the back (see the photo!).
Then it was off to the other orphanage we visited earlier in the week to take the boys to the beach for a swim. I now know that there is no such thing as personal space here – at one stage I was trying to get my bathing suit on, using a towel to protect my dignity, and I must have had five wee boys stuck to me. Not a hope of changing back afterwards: I went home with a wet bum.
We had a lovely relaxing afternoon, but, nearing my 20,000 steps, I was thrilled when a local stopped to offer us a lift back – as they say at home, my stomach thought my throat was slit, I was so hungry.
We called into the local restaurant to order our dinner; the guy at the restaurant had to phone whoever makes the food to make sure it will be ready. Nothing happens fast here, and I can get right and grumpy when I’m hungry – poor Warren! We got our grapefruit at long last on our way home – we’ve been trying to all week, so I’ll have one to keep me alive till dinner: I have a funny feeling we might be waiting a while.
