Here at Haven, we’re excited to announce our new partnership with the Global Citizen Award, which recognises the contribution made by overseas volunteers and raises awareness of global issues in Ireland.
If you are a returned volunteer over the age of eighteen with a minimum of three weeks of overseas volunteer experience, you are eligible to apply for the award, giving you the chance to share your volunteering stories and memories and to educate others on the global issues you encountered. Your achievements could then be celebrated at a National Award Ceremony.
Three award categories – bronze, silver and gold – are open, which involve attending pre-departure training and workshops, completing your overseas experience, writing blogs, undertaking action projects and more, depending on the relevant category. Your overseas experience can also be built up cumulatively, allowing the award to be reflective without restricting when your volunteering has taken place.
There are three simple steps to register your interest, with the first being to pay a visit to the Global Citizen Award website here.
We would encourage all of our volunteers – old and new! – to consider applying for this initiative, which gives you a great opportunity to gain even more from your time in Haiti, to develop new and valuable skills, and to inspire others to get involved. Take two minutes out to watch the video below and see what it’s all about!
If you are interested in registering for the award, let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do all that we can to support you!
