Here at Haven, we are delighted to announce that over €5,300 has been raised through the recent Gros Morne School Meals appeal.
Children in the local school in the rural Haitian community of Gros Morne will receive more than 14,700 school meals as a result, despite learning earlier this summer that state funding to provide them is being cut. For many of these children, this is their only meal of the day – so the difference that this support makes is incredible.
On behalf of all of our team, we would like to thank everyone for their generous donations to this appeal. Haiti remains one of the poorest countries in the Western hemisphere, and, today, more than 131,000 children there are experiencing extreme malnutrition. By supporting this appeal, you have made an incredible contribution to ensuring that this reality is prevented for children in Gros Morne.
We would like to acknowledge the hard work and initiative of the group of volunteers, led by Patrick O’Neill, who spent three weeks in June running a summer camp in community of Gros Morne: without them, this appeal would not have been possible.
At Haven, we are committed to instilling real and positive change in Haiti, working hand in hand with its local people to leave poverty behind for good. Thank you for sharing in this journey.
