Our 36 volunteers are working hard in Haiti to transform a local school

36 volunteers from Ireland and the United States arrived in Haiti on 14 April for our 2018 Volunteer Programme, working to upgrade a local school in the community of Gressier.

Jean Jean School welcomes 160 students from the local area every day, but has seen significant damage from 2010’s devastating earthquake and 2016’s Hurricane Matthew.

Our volunteers are spending a week at the school, roofing, plastering and painting its buildings, repairing its kitchen, constructing a new shaded dining area, making and installing new furnishings, and ensuring the school is a safe, colourful and engaging place for children to learn in for many years to come.

Take a look here to see how their first few days on site have been going!
