2018 Volunteer Programme

Every year, our Volunteer Programme makes an incredible impact in a local community in Haiti.

In 2018, our Volunteer Programme is travelling between Friday, 13 April and Sunday, 22 April – and we hope you can join us!

Every year, our group of volunteers leave a lasting impression on a local community in Haiti, where they lead a range of vital projects which focus on our three core development areas: Water and Sanitation (WASH), training and education, and shelter.

The location and activities planned for our 2018 outing will be announced in the coming months. Everyone is welcome, and no experience is necessary: we would love to see some of our veterans and some fresh faces there with us!

The volunteer experience

As a volunteer, you will join a group of about thirty others – both Irish and international – who have committed to bringing meaningful, positive change to a local community in Haiti.

There, over the course of a week, you participate in a broad range of activities suited to multiple skill-sets and tailored to meet the needs of the community you are based in.  Tackling heavy workloads and often contending with high temperatures, the Volunteer Programme is a challenge, but one you will no doubt find hugely rewarding and memorable.

Your generosity of time and commitment – both in taking the time to travel and raising the necessary funds – not only means an enormous amount to us, but truly changes lives in Haiti.

Raising funds

The fundraising target for each volunteer for the 2018 Volunteer Programme is €4,500 ($4,000), with €500 ($500) deposit required when you sign up in order to secure your place.

The trip as a whole costs €4,500 and, of this, just under €1,750 goes towards logistical costs, such as your flights, accommodation, insurance, food and transport while in Haiti.  The rest of the money your raise goes towards the projects that you will be working on during the week.

We aim to put as much of the funds as possible back into the local community and the Haitian economy; therefore, we source all our building materials, transport, and other services locally.  Local contractors are employed on all of the projects, and will work closely with you during the week.
